But, as you try to prevent blushing, your unease will go from bad to worse and you will redden all the more. As a result, the more you blush, the more often it occurs, and the nearer you get to excessive blushing. However much you try to struggle against it, it will yet affect you finally and you will blush more often than before.

If you concentrate on your excessive blushing to try to prevent it, in fact it will cause it, because you become obsessed with it and permit it to dominate your life. You cannot help this as it is based on fear. But, as your blushes become more frequent, they will also intensify.

Believe it or not, it is, actually, the act of refusing to go along with a blush when it occurs that ensures that it becomes all the more intense than if you were to let go. When the blush begins to creep up your neck, everything in you starts to struggle against it. Everything within your physical and mental strength is focussed on it. Rather than preventing it, this will make it worse and ensure that your face ends up more red than it would have been otherwise.

As this takes place more and more regularly, you will mechanically try to oppose blushing whenever you feel it starting. It soon becomes a habit and this ensures that your blushing tendencies soar in occurrence and strength, and will carry on doing so until you can find something to help you control it.
